Bloomfield Virtual Details

If you missed the presentation last night on Bloomfield Virtual, an option for K-5, .  If you’d like to view the slides, they are available .  Please see the answers below to the most common questions received today.  More detailed information will be provided next week.

Did Bloomfield Virtual change from K-12 to K-5?
正规体育投注 Yes.  Students in grades 6-12 will be enrolled in their selected courses and start the year in distance learning.  They have the option to remain in distance learning within those courses OR attend in-person once schools have reopened.  The school schedule, teacher, classmates, content, and expectations will not change for a student selecting either in-person or distance learning in grades 6-12.  This allows the district to provide the robust academic curriculum that district families enjoy.  The details and plan for grades 6-12 will be presented to the Board of Education on August 20, 2020, and then shared with the community once finalized.

Can I switch from Option 1 distance/in-person teaching and learning to Option 2 K-5 Bloomfield Virtual and vice versa before the semester ends?

  • Once a family selects Bloomfield Virtual, the student will not be able to move to in-person teaching and learning until the start of the next semester.  Please look for information regarding selections for second semester in November after the first card-marking.
  • Once a family selects in-person, the student will not be able to move to Bloomfield Virtual teaching and learning until the start of the next semester.
  • The deadline to select Bloomfield VIRTUAL for the first semester is August 18.

When does the first semester end?正规体育投注 January 29, 2021

Do distance learning/remote and Bloomfield Virtual follow the exact same schedule and curriculum? Beginning September 8, all BHS students will follow the same calendar and daily bell schedule at each building level.  This means that “in-person” students that are in distance learning and Bloomfield VIRTUAL students will have the same daily bell schedule.  Each classroom teacher - whether distance learning or virtual - will make classroom specific adjustments within that schedule.  To see the sample daily schedules, please see .

As the district phases into an in-person model, the curriculum will remain the same, however the daily bell schedule for “in-person” will change.  The Bloomfield VIRTUAL bell schedule will remain consistent throughout the semester.

Will “in-person” students who will start in distance learning/remote be provided an iPad or Chromebook?正规体育投注 Yes. The district is in the process of procuring more equipment for all students.  These items will be distributed after delivery and updating by the technology department. Families must sign the Technology Use Agreement prior to accepting the equipment.
